According to our sources, Honda is looking to fast-track its turbocharged CR-Z, which will be powered by a 1.6 VTEC-i 4-cylinder and may be offered in both 160bhp and 200bhp variants.

The reason for the potential fast-track is down to very strong feedback and tumbling domestic sales. A world debut of the production model could premier next year in Tokyo.

Prospective customers were saddened after finding out the CR-Z is only available with a 112bhp 1.5 VTEC-i and a 14bhp electric motor
